We estimate the solar thermal energy for your project and anticipate the utilization by using our collectors. Sizing of the solar thermal energy system depends on several factors including: geographic location, number of solar hours, orientation of the collector relative to the compass direction and your own energy needs. 

Hot water panels only

One industrial size 4 foot by 8 foot solar panel will produce about 18,000 BTU of heat per day with approximately 6 hours of sunlight.

About 150 litres of storage is required for each solar panel. (33 Imperial Gallons or 40 US gallons)

As a rule of thumb, 1 solar panel is required for every 500 square feet of space to be heated.  This can very depending on a number of factors:

  • Climatic conditions.
  • How well insulated the building is
  • How often and how long are doors left open
  • Type of fuel (natural gas, coal, oil, propane or electric)
  • Is water being heated as well as the building
  • How much hot water is used.
